While wearable technology has been around for years now, the launch of the Apple Watch has the merger between fashion and technology on everyone’s lips. At this year’s NY Fashion Week, there were two innovative events that allowed editors to preview the latest and greatest in both areas. Here is a recap of the events and the featured products:
Fashionxtech Takes Editors On A Ride
Partnering with Brother and NYC’s, the Ride, Katlean DeMonchy hosted Fashion Week’s first Mobile Lounge fashionxtech. The interactive showcase celebrated fashion and technology and allowed editors to get up to date with the latest developments in the area. While enjoying the views of the City, invited guests – media, influencers, stylists and celebrities – were presented with a curated selection of the most innovative products in the fashion/tech arena through a digital presentation of the leading brands on the 24 plasma screens onboard The Ride, an ultra comfortable and technologically advanced transport.
The products presented included: the Brother Dream Machine, Phorus Speakers, Oku, MyCharge, and Snowman.
fashionxtech culminated with a closing night party at Tender Lounge with VIP guest Project Runway All Stars II Winner, Anthony Ryan Auld. Brother, as the presenting sponsor, hosted the evening, which was filled with dynamic real time Fashion/Tech brand experiences. Notable guests included: Aviva and Reid Drescher, Project Runway’s Joshua McKinley, Dean F. Schulman, Senior Vice President, HAD/IPD, Brother International, NEXTPERT Katlean de Monchy, Jane Pontarelli, Harry Dubin, Adele Nino, Harry Edelson, a coterie of Fashion Week’s promising new models and more of New York’s most forward-trending individuals.
The Third Annual Fashion Week TechStyle NYC Lounge At The House of Bumble
The TechStyle NYC Lounge was the ultimate retreat for the perfectly primped, shamelessly chic fashionistas in attendance at New York Fashion Week. Held at The House of Bumble, the spacious lounge provided unbeatable views and served as the perfect rest stop between shows.
The day kicked off with a morning fitness segment hosted by Dr. Oz’s trainer, Joel Harper, for a select group of influencers to jump start another #NYFW day. Afterwards, doors opened for guests to enjoy the TechStyle experience. Reddera, a newly launched on-demand beauty app, was on hand for hair, makeup and nail makeovers, as well as, massages and facials for any attendees that needed a little beauty pick-me-up. Guests were treated to designs from Shaman Furs, Meredith Marks, Of Mercer and T. Tandon, with an interactive experience provided by Stylinity, an app designed to allow your following to shop your selfies.
For guests, who needed to power up, Waka Waka provided solar power charging stations to bring life back to those beloved smartphones. Narrative Clips were on display to showcase how easy a wearable camera can snap photos by simply tapping your finger, talk about a fun spy cam. ChangeTip caused quite a stir of engagement with sending some of our savvy influencers Bitcoin tips. Yes, it’s now in fashion to buy cocktails with Bitcoin and ChangeTip was on hand to not only show us how, but provide guests with some Bitcoin to play around with.
Attendees were treated to beverages supplied by Koa Natural Olakino, Arizona Tea’s Skinnygirl Sparklers, Big T NYC and for something a little stronger, Blue Nun Wines offered their assortment of white wines and allowed guests to share a NYFW fashion faux pas in their confessional booth. Fortunately, these nuns didn’t judge! And for those, who didn’t have a Valentine this year, author, Elena Murzello was able to offer dating pointers at her Love List Lounge. Providing rides for lucky attendees, GoGreenRide delivered with quick and easy environmentally-friendly rides to the Meatpacking location.
