On the eve of the death of the late, great Notorious BIG's anniversary, Catfish Billy came to Brooklyn Bowl to rock the stage. Lacking the decorum of a traditional rap artist, Yela jumped in the crowd and raged with Brooklynites. Ripping mostly hooks and verses instead of full songs, Yela came through the spot killed his set before disappearing into the night in true Biggie fashion. Video and full review after the Cut!

Yela approached the stage lights with the weariness of a country boy thrust into a world with too many flashes and not enough Jim Beam. His set was short, but overstuffed with vibrant energy that shook a crowd of dudes who definitely don't get down like "that." At times feeling frustrated with the lack of participation, Catfish Billy took matters into his own hands, at one point walking deep into the crowd to just stare people down and make sure they knew they should have come to get crunk! His breath control was flawless throughout the show in an era where most MC's feel more comfortable in the booth, and Yela carried the torch for his rock 'n roll predecessors by proving that MC means move the crowd. The set avoided any material recorded before Trunk Musik, but was heavy on his remix verses as he ran through cuts like "I Wish" and "Stage Lights". After the show at Brooklyn Bowl, Yelawolf rolled to Gallery Bar where he continued to pop the trunk on fools who think he ain't hip-hop. Catch the video below for exclusive concert and backstage footage!

If you build it they will come! With that ethos Jack White has been quietly grooming a stable of uber - talented musicians at his Third Man Studio in Nashville. Karen Elson, laces the acoustic version of The Ghost Who Walks with a lush melodic overture that begs the question, when can we expect more? Fret not, Elson will be preforming at both the Press Here showcase in Austin as well as the Third Man pop-up shop during South By Southwest (March, 20th). If you can't make it down to Austin to check her out, she will be preforming at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village, March 22nd.
