The sufi killer is set unleash his debut album A Sufi and A Killer via Warp Records on the flip side of this weekend. GonjaSufi previously worked with Flying Lotus on “Testament”, but is now poised to tell his own story. Mixing beautiful soliloquies with clever rhyme schemes and mystic singing A Sufi and A Killer is a far reaching operatic masterpiece that breathes whimsical life into breathtaking production. Gongasufi breathes life into soundscapes created by the likes of Gaslamp Killer, Mainframe and Flying Lotus. His wisdom and soul create a compelling vision of a world devoid of Hip-Hop cliches without an attempt at sounding “different”. Get the visuals after the cut!
The Wild Colonial's lead singer is venturing out on her own again, with her latest offering “You Could Start a Fight In An Empty House”. Described as an “anti-diva” her soulful “brighten up a rainy day” voice cracks at all the right times giving the album a rich texture throughout. McCluskey's voice mixes all the flirty nasal tonality of Cyndi Lauper with the resonance of Diana Ross, and the pain of Ray Lamontagne. Enjoy the visuals after the Cut!
Talented artist and customizer, Lou Pimentel went to work on a “Bic Buddy“ figure and gave it the likeness of the late Notorious B.I.G. The 8” custom toy was dubbed “Big Poppa” and is a very fitting production considering that the memory of the fallen Hip-Hop heavyweight was just remembered by us all this past Tuesday. The artful homage was completed just weeks before the upcoming “Bic Buddy Custom Show” which takes place March 27th at the Crewest Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. The show highlights an array of artists whom have meticulously drawn their own visions on the new 8” DIY Bic Buddy toy manufactured by Bic Plastics. New York art and toy enthusiasts will get a chance to catch the event on April 9th at Zakka in Brooklyn.
