Quantcast

The Clipse ripped through Hiro ballroom last night with good company in tow.  The Thornton brothers were headlining the Myspace show with upcomers Jasmine Solano, Adam Tensta and Donnis, who performed cuts (“Over Do It,” “Gone”) from his mixtape Diary Of An ATL Brave. After making us question ourselves “Why did we ever stop bumping his mixtape?” Donnis brought the crowd up ten-thousand notches by bringing out his ATL brethren, Pill, to perform “Trap Goin' Ham.” DJ Jayceo worked the crowd for the men of the hour by spinning what seemed like a ten-second Southern set (where's the love, homie?). The Clipse then took the stage and ran through a bevy of mixtape cuts (“Til The Casket Drops”), classics (“Cot Damn”) and some of their newer material (“I'm Good”). Ab-Liva joined the Clipse on stage and received a welcome like that of a long-lost family member reappearing for Thanksgiving dinner. No questions were asked, such as, “What has he been doing all this time?”, “Where is Sandman?”, “Is he really this tall or is it all an illusion? Are we really even here?” We were just glad to see him do the damn thing. Before leaving the stage, Pusha promised us some heat this winter (“December 8th, album of the year… We heard all that shit that dropped, fuck all that shit”) and a single that should be dropping sometime today (“We're dropping “Popeyes” tomorrow. We gon' give it to a radio nigga, but if he don't move like he supposed to, we giving it to the net”). Let's keep our fingers crossed he doesn't slip.
