This past Saturday, Williamsburg's industrial zone was alive with
color, creativity and old school sound. Nestled between Wythe and North
15th Streets, The Phun Phactory's “Ole Tymers Day” paid homage to the
pioneers of the street art movement (with the event itself also serving
as a memorial to legendary artist Iz The Wiz) and brought together the
OG's with the new kids, graffiti enthusiasts and locals alike. Phactory
founder and event coordinator, Pat Di Lillo, aims to turn the entire
area into a neighborhood museum, rooted in what he considers to be the
birthplace of graffiti with more events, community projects and
apprenticeships. Check the link for more about the corporation and learn how to get involved at thephunphactory.org.
