Last week YRB was invited to an exclusive press introduction of
the new Kia Sportage compact utility vehicle held in San Francisco, CA.
Starting off the festivities was a meet and greet cocktail hour
complete with networking among some of the most knowledgable when it
comes to all things car related.
The Sportage, scheduled to be released next month, is among the
first cars in the CUV category, launched with Kia originally in 1996.
This newer model boasts a modern, stylish design first available in
eight colors with several added features that make it extremely
attractive to its target young, single male demographic. Some of these
features include the standard Sirius Satellite Radio in all models,
heated/cooled seats, MP3 connectivity, panoramic sunroofs, Bluetooth,
large cargo and interior storage space and a cooled glove box. In
keeping with Kia's commitment to competitive pricing, the Sportage will
run at an approximate starting price of $18,295, and according to the
VP of Sales Tom Loveless, even with all the options added the car will
run in the $29,000 range. Also special to the Kia customer is the UVO
system technology that comes from a partnership with Microsoft,
enabling drivers the luxury of an automated voice, hands-free
experience.
After the introduction to the Sportage, attendees were let loose
in the new vehicles to test drive a pre-destined route from SF to Half
Moon Bay. Being able to witness first-hand the ease and comfort of
handling the newest CUV, it's easy to understand why Kia has the fourth
largest sales in car companies. As explained by Michael Sprague, VP of
Marketing, the Sportage is meant for those “looking to move into a new
stage of adulthood and looking for a vehicle to navigate new roads
ahead.” And look for several more Kia vehicles to be launched within
the coming months as they're sure to have just what you're looking for.
