For one day only, thousands of reggae aficionados gather for the annual One Love Sound Fest in Poland to see international artists take over the stage, firing up the crowd as they light up their own little treats. One Love quickly became the biggest indoor reggae festival in Europe, and this year’s lineup includes several entertainers who have never before performed in Poland – such as Groundation, Rob Smith, The Congos and Jah Free, as well as Polish natives Natural Dread Killaz – blazing the day away with a genuine blend of reggae, roots, dub, hip-hop, dancehall and world music. The festival also offers more than just music, with films, workshops and expositions available for attendees. Spirits fly free in the big Centennial Hall venue as positive vibrations and beats carry on through the night.

Outside of gallery displays, the NAC offers its affiliates invitations to film screenings, lectures, dances, award dinners and other events. With members that include some of the cast from <Gossip Girl>, Ethan Hawke, Jimmy Fallon and Martin Scorsese, this club isn’t your great-grandmother’s “secret society” anymore. As a means of continuing to diversify membership and enticing a newer generation of art enthusiasts, NAC president Aldon James is providing reduced rates to younger folks looking to join. Meredith Music Festival

Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre, Australia

December 11-13, 2009

http://www.mmf.com.au

The Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre was specially constructed 19 years ago to permanently house the Meredith Music Festival, and the site alone has made it a must-attend event. The campgrounds create a true festival feel that most of us weren’t able to experience at Woodstock, but with a stellar lineup that includes Animal Collective, Jarvis Cocker and Akron/Family, the event is sure to invoke that same spirit. A ticket to the festival doesn’t just get you live music and an opportunity to join in a mosh pit of hardcore fans – it also grants access to campground highlights like the Meredith Gift (a completely nude sprint in which anyone can participate as long as they’re willing to bare all), a laser sky show, outside 3D cinema, a 60-foot-high Ferris wheel and Tai Chi classes.
