This Saturday was the opening reception for the Mobilis in Mobili steampunk art exhibition at Wooster Street Social Club. Most of the beloved NY Inked Artists were in attendance and the event will be seen on the second season of NY Inked airing on TLC early next month.

For those of you who may not know, typically Steampunk is associated with a time when steam power was widely used, usually Victorian era Britain, and incorporates elements of science fiction or fantasy. A lot of the pieces seen at the event are old pieces that have been transformed to be functional in today’s world.

Some of the highlights of the event were a live back piece done by WSSC’s Guy Waisman, a performance by Frenchy and the Punk and a roving fashion show of 10 models.  Inked Magazine, YRB Magazine, Thrillist Rewards, NYSP, Bulldog Gin and Spanish Vines were just a few of the sponsors donating products to the event.  This event launched the steampunk exhibition that will remain open to the public at WSSC through January 14, 2012.  Many of the pieces on display are still available for purchase.
